How to Apply for a Grant: Lowe's Toolbox for Education

A successful Lowes Toolbox for Education Grant application will require some advance work by you and your parent group. Follow the 3 Key Steps below to ensure that you have all the information you need before filing your online grant application.

Step 1: Print out and review the Pre-Application Checklist (PDF file). Note: You will need Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer to read this file. Get the current version of Adobe Acrobat here.

Use the Pre-Application as a guide to collect and compile a Word document that contains your group’s application information. The pre-application checklist includes all of the details you will need to supply as part of your application. When you are ready to submit the application online, you can copy and paste the data from the Word document into the online application.

Step 2: Develop a project that you would like to complete using funds from a Toolbox for Education grant. Visit the Sample Projects page for ideas and inspiration.

Step 3: Submit your application. Click the Apply Now button below to get started.*

*The online application form has a 25-minute time limit, so we recommend that you follow the method described under Step 1 for compiling and submitting the application information. Also, we cannot provide you with a copy of your application once it has been submitted online. Compiling your application data in a Word document will allow you to retain a copy of the application data on your computer.

Fall 2010 Cycle

The Fall 2010 cycle is now open. The deadline for submitting applications for this grant cycle is October 15, 2010. However, if 1500 applications are received before the application deadline, then the application process will close.

To get started, click on the "How to Apply" link at the top of this page. All applicants for the Spring 2010 grant cycle have been notified of the status of their application. The winners for the Spring 2010 grant cycle are now posted under the Grant Winners section.

Pick a project that meets your schools needs and your parent group’s mission. Your project must be completed within one year of receiving the grant.
Compile your application information in a Word document. This will enable you to easily edit the information and check the character count. You can also cut and paste the data from the Word document into the online application, making the submission process easier.
Assign a main contact for the project who will be available throughout the entire grant process, including the implementation of the project should the grant be awarded.
Provide as many details as possible. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
Apply early! You can submit your application anytime during the grant cycle.
